About the project

Shirley Tyrrell and Julia West met at an International Women’s Organisation meeting in Kampala, Uganda. Shirley had developed Cook-in bags for sale and as a means to empower a single mother from her village by giving her a livelihood. Julia decided the bags needed wider distribution and undertook to contact UNHCR with a view to getting them into the refugee camps in northern Uganda, both to save fuel and as a livelihood project for refugees.
